Starting on a Monday, the child spends Monday to Wednesday nights in home 1, Thursday night in home 2, and Friday to Sunday nights back in home 1. This creates the first seven nights in home 1, with a midweek overnight in home 2.
The next week reverses the pattern: Monday to Wednesday nights are in home 2, Thursday night is in home 1, and Friday to Sunday nights are in home 2. The cycle then starts again on Monday in home 1. There are six handovers in each 14-day cycle.
