How it is calculated

Normalbidrag in 2026 is 1,675 kr. a month per child (a basic amount of 1,483 kr. plus a supplement of 192 kr.). At higher incomes Familieretshuset adds 100, 200 or 300% of the basic amount; the income limits depend on how many children the paying parent supports and are approximate. With roughly equal time the support can be set lower, but never below normalbidrag.

Questions and answers

Can the parents agree on another amount?

Yes, parents can agree privately. Familieretshuset only sets the amount if you ask it to.

Is børnebidrag tax-deductible?

The payer can deduct the basic amount, and the recipient pays no tax on børnebidrag.

What if the child lives equally with both?

Then support can be reduced, but not below normalbidrag; it depends on the case.
